01

Usually safe in small portions

Plain apple flesh without seeds, banana, blueberries, strawberries, cucumber, cantaloupe, pineapple and kiwi are common examples of fruits ASPCA lists as shareable treats. Prepare small pieces and introduce one food at a time.

02

Avoid or use extra caution

Grapes and raisins can damage dogs’ kidneys and should be treated as urgent exposures. Remove pits, stones, stems, peels and seeds where they create choking, obstruction or irritation risks.

03

Keep treats in context

Fruit should stay occasional and should not displace a complete diet. Dogs with diabetes, pancreatitis, allergies or a prescribed diet need individual veterinary advice.
